How this started

Last spring I carried an 8×10 into the frame shop next to the grocery store — my three kids on the back steps, all squinting, the youngest mid-blink, the exact kind of photo you only love because it's yours. The man behind the counter was perfectly nice about it. He measured. He nodded. He turned the frame around and said: with a mat and UV glass, about $180.

For one photo. Of my own children. That I had already paid eleven dollars to have printed at the pharmacy.

A mat, it turns out, is a rectangle of heavy paper with a rectangle cut out of the middle. I drove home, looked at the wall above the sofa that had been blank for two years, and started cutting them myself.

What's here

Files you print yourself. Printable frame mats in the US sizes your frames already are, résumé templates that survive the software that reads them, and the occasional menu. One sample frame mat set is free; everything else is priced on its page, plainly.

What that means for you

• We answer the emails. There is no support queue — your message goes to whoever made the file.
• Buy once, keep it. Pay at checkout and the file is yours to print as often as you like. If a file is broken, tell us and we'll fix it.

How we work

• Small catalogue. We'd rather make forty files we're proud of than four thousand average ones.
• Say the number. No countdown timers, no fake discounts, no “$199 value”. The price on the page is the price you pay.
• You keep it. Print as many as you like, including for clients. The files are yours.
• No reviews yet. Which is why one frame mat set is free: judge the files before you pay for one.
